Parentage – Red Norland x Redsen1
Breeder – Bred and selected at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Rhinelander Agricultural Research Station in 19831
Maturity – Medium to late season1
Usage – Gourmet, canning, and home gardens; ideal for baking and boiling1
Plant – Medium, spreading canopy with few stems; stems have medium red-purple coloration1
Leaves – Dark green, large, ovate with pointed base; three to four small primary leaflet pairs along with one to three pairs of secondary and no tertiary leaflets1
Flowers – Few, purple with yellow-gold anthers; no berry production1
Tubers – Uniform, round, smooth, small dark red skin with evenly distributed medium deep eyes and slightly prominent evebrows1; white flesh; average of 15-25 tubers per plant; low specific gravity1
Strengths – Resistant to bacterial wilt and brown rot1; moderately resistant to scab1
Weaknesses – Highly susceptible to late blight1; susceptible to pink rot, early blight, Verticillium wilt, and tuber soft rot
