Breeder – Bred by Dr. J. J. Pavek at the University of Idaho Research Center1,2. Jointly released by the Agricultural Experiment Stations of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and the ARS/USDA in 19981,2,4
Maturity – Medium to late season3,4
Usage – Excellent for frozen French fry processing1,2,4; acceptable for boiling and baking1,2
Plant – Semi-erect, compact, medium sized plant; weak pigmentation1,3
Leaves – Dark green, mostly open leaves with weakly pigmented midribs and petioles1,3; terminal leaflets are ovate with pointed tips and bluntly rounded bases; five pairs of narrow ovate primary leaflets; number of secondary leaflets varies and few tertiary leaflets observed1
Flowers – Few; lavender (sometimes light violet) on inner surface and blue-violet on outer surface with yellow-orange anthers; low berry production1
Tubers – Long, oblong, russeted, tan tubers with tapered apical ends; white flesh1,3; evenly distributed shallow eyes with non-prominent eyebrows1; marketable yield is slightly more than Russet Burbank1,4; short dormancy period1
Strengths – Some resistant to late blight and common scab1,3; moderately resistant to potato virus Y (visual symptoms not always expressed) and Verticillium wilt1,3,4; resistant to potato virus X1,4; less susceptible to hollow heart, brown center, growth cracks and sugar ends than Russet Burbank1
Weaknesses – Susceptible to early blight, soft rot, dry rot, potato leaf roll virus, and late blight1,3; more susceptible to blackspot and shatter bruise than Russet Burbank1
