Flowers –Blue with blue-purple longitudinal stripes; yellow orange anthers1
Tubers – Oval to oblong, deep purple netted skin1,2,3; many deep eyes evenly distributed on tubers with less prominent eyebrows; purple streaked with white flesh and a characteristic white vascular ring1,3; low specific gravity1; medium to long tuber dormancy1,2
Strengths – Popular variety for specialty markets; very high in antioxidants (especially in the skin); drought tolerant; moderately resistant to late blight, hollow heart, secondary growth1,3, shatter bruise, powdery scab and potato viruses A, M, X and S1
Weaknesses – Susceptible to potato leafroll virus, potato virus Y, bacterial ring rot, black leg, golden nematode Ro1 and common scab1
