Parentage – Bannock Russet x A8343-121,2
Breeder – Bred by Dr. Joseph Pavek of the USDA-Agricultural Research Station Aberdeen Idaho Potato Breeding Program in 1990-1991; released by Texas A&M AgriLife Research in 2015; name is French for ‘wake up’ due to early maturity of variety and the Texas A&M mascot1

Plant – Medium, erect growth habit1,2; green stems with weak anthocyanin pigmentation and wings1
Leaves – Medium green, open; terminal leaflets are medium ovate, heart shaped tip and narrowly rounded base; three to four (avg. 3.8) pairs of medium, ovate primary leaflets; five to eight pairs (avg. 7.3) of secondary and tertiary leaflets; green petioles with weak anthocyanin pigmentation1
Flowers –Violet to white, star-shaped with yellow-orange anthers; limited pollen production; no field berry production1
Tubers – Large, oblong, brown russeted skin with shallow eyes; white flesh1,2; medium to late tuber dormancy; low specific gravity1,2; bright blue-violet sprouts1
Strengths – Low incidence of hollow heart, secondary growth, growth cracks, shatter bruise, common scab, blackspot bruise and metribuzin damage1,2; moderately resistant to Fusarium dry rot and Pectobacterium soft rot; exhibits higher quality yields than Russet Norkotah; can wound heal to a light brown color following harvest or handling injury1
Weaknesses – Susceptible to internal brown spot, Verticillium wilt, early blight, foliar late blight, net necrosis, root knot nematode, bacterial ring rot1,2 and potato virus Y2; tolerant of tuber late blight infection1
